How Aurelya Began
Aurelya began with a single question:
Are there exoplanets in the Andromeda Galaxy that could support life?
The answer was that there very probably are. Our current technology, however, cannot see that far with enough precision.
The question first arose while I was planning a piece of music. But because I prefer to write about things that are, in some sense, real, I did not want to write a song about a world whose existence we knew nothing about.
So first, that world had to be created.
The Tharaen star system and its planets came into being. One of them was Aurelya. The planet gained inhabitants, a society, a history, a living world of its own, and its own way of understanding connection.
Once the world was ready, the song that had started it all could finally be written.
That could have been the end of it.
But it seemed completely absurd to create an entire world for just one song.
And so a story began—one that starts in the Lofoten Islands of Norway and soon becomes entwined with Aurelya’s own history.
Aurelya grew into a book series, an adventure, a story of relationships, and a tale of connection between two very different worlds.
What Is Aurelya?
Aurelya is a book series, a musical body of work, and a world of its own. It is science fantasy, but technology, spacecraft, and conquest are not at its heart.
At its heart are connection, trust, responsibility, fear, and what happens when two profoundly different worlds meet.
Aurelya is also a story of relationships. The connection between worlds does not arise between systems or governments, but between humans and the inhabitants of Aurelya.
They must learn to understand ways of feeling, thinking, and responding that are unfamiliar to one another.
Behind it all runs a question: can connection preserve difference— and can a whole emerge without anyone having to disappear into it?
The Book Series
The story of Aurelya begins in the Lofoten Islands of Norway. Aija encounters a phenomenon that should not exist—and a connection to a world that Earth cannot see.
From the first answer grows a chain of events that connects Earth and Aurelya—and later Nyxa, the third world in the whole.
The series moves from first contact toward ever deeper questions: what connection demands, what fear can do to a whole, and how far into the past a single answer can reach.
Each volume forms a story of its own, while also building a larger narrative about worlds that can no longer return to being entirely separate.
Aurelya as a World
Aurelya lies in the Tharaen star system in the Andromeda Galaxy. Elior, Cael, and Nyxa cross its sky—three moons, each with its own place in the planet’s history.
On Aurelya, the living world, dwellings, and communities are not separate systems. Structures grow with their surroundings, light emerges from life, and society is built upon resonance, listening, and shared responsibility.
The inhabitants of Aurelya do not seek to control the planet. They live as part of a whole that responds to their actions and remembers their consequences.
Aurelya is not a perfect world, however. Its history also contains fear, withdrawal, and choices whose true meaning is revealed only little by little.
