Ingrid Halvorsen.

Ingrid comes to the Lofoten Islands to investigate a phenomenon in the measurements that does not fit ordinary models. She is not looking for a sensation or someone to blame, but for the truth. When explanation and observation conflict, Ingrid follows the observation.
Oskari quickly recognizes in Ingrid the same quality he values in measurement: the need to distinguish what is known from what is inferred and what is still only suspected. Ingrid, in turn, recognizes Oskari’s competence early. A professional trust develops between them without requiring grand declarations.
Ingrid’s relationship with documentation is almost uncompromising. Notes and reports are not bureaucracy to her, but a way of keeping what happened separate from what people may later want it to mean. For the same reason, she notices when formally correct information has been arranged in a way that distorts its meaning.
With Aija, Sigrid, and Oskari, Ingrid’s manner gradually changes. Her dry precision remains part of her, but warmth, humor, and loyalty become increasingly visible beside it. A relationship that begins with her as a researcher becomes friendship.
